Historic Agreement: Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela Unite to develop Dragon Gas Field

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago Government Communications announced that an agreement has been signed to work on the Dragon Gas Field. This deal has been regarded as a historic moment at Miraflores, Caracas, Venezuela.
This decision and bond of both the countries – Trinidad and Tobago and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, was praised and lauded by the President of Venezuela – Nicolás Maduro. He outlined that both the countries are proven to be good neighbours and brothers, and this is a ‘gigantic step’.
President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela – Nicolás Maduro, on September 20, 2023, stated, “Trinidad and Tobago, and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela as good neighbours and brothers, we have taken a gigantic step!”
Prez Maduro further outlined, “With the signing of the agreement to work the Dragon field in Venezuelan waters, that will lead us to produce together, a project that is lost from sight. It is a message of peace, complementarity, solidarity, exercised and shared sovereignty.”
The meeting was conducted on September 19, 2023. The meeting was held with Delcy Rodríguez, Executive Vice President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and Minister Pedro Rafael Tellechea, Minister of Petroleum of Venezuela, in Caracas, Venezuela.
Trinidad and Tobago Government Communications has mentioned that it is grateful to work together with Venezuela to advance the development and production of Venezuelan natural gas for export and utilization in Trinidad and Tobago. “We have reached a significant agreement and milestone,” the association outlined.
This agreement and signing were lauded by locals of both countries and it has been mentioned to be a significant step for Trinidad and Tobago as well as the Republic of Venezuela.

Both countries have been serving a long and complex bilateral tie as well as diplomatic relationship. The diplomatic relations between both countries were established on September 14, 1962. The ties were made just two weeks after the independence of Trinidad and Tobago.
