Georgetown, Guyana: The authorities of Guyana seize firearms, ammunition and narcotics under the search operation conducted by them at Torroparau back dam, Lower Puruni River. The suspect is still on the run.
Upon receiving the information, the ranked officers in Regional Division #7 held an exercise in the said area. While conducting the search, the officials found a makeshift mining camp along the trail. The ambience of the surroundings raised doubts in the officers’ minds, so they decided to approach the camp area.
When the officers reached there, they found a male who ran away from the camp upon seeing them. According to the officers’ details, they tried to chase him but failed to catch him.
The officers have ensured that they are conducting the investigation thoroughly and are trying their best to get the suspect in their clutch.
According to the reports, the officers held a search of the hammock which was tied under the camp. During the search, the officials found several things which include, a Taurus pistol and one magazine with seven 9mm live rounds of ammunition.
Along with that, the authorities also conducted a search of the bulky plastic bag. During the search, the officials found 147 small transparent Ziplock plastic bags with seeds, stems and leaves, which were suspected to be cannabis.
Notably, the authorities have seized the firearm, ammunition and narcotics discovered from the camp. The officers are currently probing the matter to find out the identity of the suspect who ran away from the camp.
Several residents of the community also took to their social media accounts and expressed their views on the news.
One person commented, “It is so disturbing how people are hiding such things, the culprit should be caught soonest so that they understand that these are illegal activities.”
Another person commented the following “Such bad examples, these people are setting for the young generation, catch that person as soon as possible.”
Such instances lead to questioning the competency of the authorities and shed light on their need to take strict actions in order to safeguard youth from leading young people into criminal activities.
