Guyana officers seizes 52lbs of narcotics during search operation

Georgetown, Guyana: The authorities of Guyana discovered 52lbs Ganja during the search operation conducted by them on Ramp Road, Georgetown, Guyana on Saturday, 13th April 2024. The officers have been conducting a thorough investigation and have charged one person into custody. 

The name and identity of the suspect have not been revealed yet by the authorities. As per the details shared by the officers, the ranked officers were conducting an exercise when they stopped the car and held its search.

During the search exercise, the officers found a brown salt bag containing 15 bulky parcels. All the parcels were reported to contain leaves, seeds and stems which were suspected to be cannabis wrapped in transparent plastic. 

The vehicle and driver were taken to the Ruimveldt Police Station where the authorities weighed the suspected cannabis discovered from the suspect. On weighing, it amounted to 52 pounds of marijuana which was also seized by the officers

The authorities have promised to continue to conduct such operations with a motive to make Guyana, a drug-free nation. They stated that they are implementing stringent policies and plans which will focus on curbing such drug activities in the nation. They also emphasised their vision of protecting youth from drug activities, ensuring a safe and secure future for the citizens of the nation. 

For the same, the officers have also requested the citizens to assist the police team in conducting enquiries related to the matter. The police department also urged the public for their cooperation in the process of eradicating crime rates from the nation. 

Several residents of the Guyana also took to their social media accounts and expressed their views on the matter.
