Georgetown, Guyana: International Energy Conference and Exhibition (IECE) has been organised by the Labour Ministry of Guyana. It is a four-day event organised at the Guyana Marriott Hotel. The social media post by the Ministry noted, “The Ministry of Labour’s team is on the ground at the Guyana Marriott Hotel for the four-day International Energy Conference and Exhibition (IECE).”

According to the update by the Labour Ministry, the conference was celebrated under the theme “Harnessing Energy for Developments” and featured over 200 exhibitions, 30 sponsors, and over 800 delegates.

Furthermore, it stated that it aimed to provide a platform for participating companies to address critical issues affecting the energy sector, as well as the challenges of mitigating climate change. This includes maximising the advantages of local content development in Guyana and the surrounding region.

It also appealed to the general public to visit their respective booth to learn about labour, the Co-operative Society, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH), the Central Recruitment and Manpower Agency (CRMA), and the Board of Industrial Training. “Please take advantage of this opportunity to speak with one of our officers about your concerns and training opportunities,” it additionally asked the citizens.

Earlier this week, the Ministry gladly shared the update regarding training tools provided to the residents of region five of Guyana. “Forty-Four (44) residents of Moraikobai Village, Region Five, received the necessary training tools, materials, and stipends from the Board of Industrial Training’s three (3) vocational and technical disciplines,” the Ministry informed the public.

The Ministry informed that through a training session, the residents would be learning Commercial Food Preparation, Garment Construction, and Boat Building, which will be completed by April 2023. “Jennel Washington, Technical Officer for Region Five, led this exercise on Wednesday, February 8th, 2023 and Thursday, February 9th, 2023,” the Ministry informed.
