The Former Permanent Secretary and General Secretary of the Grenada Olympics Committee, Veda Bruno-Victor, has been elected as the first Vice President of PANAM Sports 2024. He was elected during the Panam Sports General Assembly, held on Wednesday, 2nd October 2024, in Paraguay.
She is one of three Vice Presidents who have been elected, aiming to play a huge role within the continental sporting body, making her the highest-ranking vice president. Notably, the Panam Sports Vice Presidencies have been divided into three groups with 3 members each in the respective group.
The members including in the Group 2 led by Veda Bruno Victor includes, Alfred Emmanuel (Saint Lucia), Dennis Knight (Saint Kitts and Nevis) and Roberto Richards (Cuba). Meanwhile, Camilo Pérez of Paraguay has been chosen as the second Vice President and the member in her group 3 includes, Nicole Hoevertsz (Aruba), Mario Moccia (Argentina) and Jorge Delgado (Ecuador).
The Group 1 will be led by Sarah Hirshland of USA and the members include, Mario Garcia (Mexico), Tricia Smith (Canada) and Damaris Young (Panama).
Following her election, the Grenada Olympic Committee extended congratulations to her and lauded her continuous efforts towards positioning Grenada’s sports sector in the global map. “Congratulations to our General Secretary Mrs Veda Bruno-Victor Elected First Vice President of Panam Sports group 2.”
The election of Bruno Victor as the Vice-President marks a significant achievement for Grenada on the international sporting stage. Her election shed light on the accomplishment and the recognition that the island nation has been receiving on the global platform.
Following her election as the First Vice President, Victor extended gratitude to everyone who supported her and ensured to make every possible effort with a primary goal of elevating the sports sector of the Caribbean region to greater heights. She also ensured to create several opportunities for all the athletes to showcase their talent and skills.
Moreover, this election was conducted on the first day of the LXII General Assembly of Panam Sports. The election of the President has been held for the period 2024 to 2028 between the current President, Neven IIic and the second vice-president, Keith Joseph.
The voting system was used in order to find out the winner and the Neven IIic won with a total of 37 votes. On the other hand, Keith Joseph managed to obtain only 16 in his favour.
