Grenada: True Blue Bay Resort commended for environmental sustainability
While shedding light on the Resort, the Auditor stated that True Blue Bay Resort is one of the iconic properties here in Grenada and in the Caribbean.

The True Blue Bay Resort of Grenada received high commendations from Green Globe for its commitment to environmental sustainability. This recognition from international sustainable and environmental management is a testament to the commitment of the resort towards improving its sustainability within the sector.
Green Globe is a comprehensive, science-based, three-in-one certification system that evaluates the environmental sustainability, health & wellness, and resilience of all types of commercial real estate.
Recently, the Green Globe Auditor for the resort, Wendy Walker Driggs concluded a 2-day advanced training for staff on food security in the Caribbean. She stressed on the significance of training, which forms part of Green Globe’s mandates for members to improve their sustainability path in the tourism industry.
While shedding light on the Resort, the Auditor stated that True Blue Bay Resort is one of the iconic properties here in Grenada and in the Caribbean. She further added that last year also, the resort copped the sustainability, top prize at Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association.
Also, the National Ozone Unit within the Ministry of Climate Resilience and GIZ has concluded its pilot project at True Blue Bay Resort under the cool contributions fighting climate change 2 project. This initiative has been undertaken in order to integrate green cooling into Grenada’s hotel and the tourism sector through PV powered AC to promote a sustainable transformation of refrigeration and air conditioning.
While shedding light on the resort, the Head of the Ozone unit, Leslie Smith lauded the move taken by the True Blue Bay Resort to be efficient and climate friendly.
Leslie Smith stated that the sustainable cooling powered by solar energy is an investment in a healthier and a more resilient future. He added that with the handing over Acs to the resort, they are not just marking the conclusion of a successful pilot project but also laying the foundation for a future where sustainable cooling’s becomes a norm.
He continued to say that he is further looking forward for more engagements and making necessary infrastructure investments with regards to solar PV and energy efficient air conditioning appliances so that they can reduce their footprints, enhance, protect, and preserve the very fragile environment.
Moreover, Russ Fielden, the owner of True Blue Bay Resort also pledged to continue to make efforts in order to protect the environment. He outlined the plans to enhance the resort and make it more sustainable. He stated that it is absolutely critical for the survival of the human race on the earth that they actually recognize how important it is to get carbon footprint down.
He asserted that they will double their capacity and are continuing to try and find the electric vehicles and promote, the use of solar throughout the country.
