Cheddi Jagan International Airport of Guyana marked a significant upgrade by installing E-gates which is aimed at streamlining the processing of incoming and outgoing passengers. This significant improvement will play a huge role in reducing processing times and enhancing the overall efficiency of the airport.
As per the details shared by the authorities of Cheddi Jagan International Airport, the key features which has been included in the process include, autonomous immigration processing that performs security checks on passports worldwide.
Along with that, it also consists of validation of chip passports as per the ICAO standards, with future support for Guyana’s e-ID and facial recognition technology for identity verification utilizing an advanced algorithm.
Also, it is integrated with the ABIS system for real-time passenger updates, with automated checks for ED form correctness. This facility has the capacity to process six passengers simultaneously with oversight from a single officer.
According to the details, this enhanced and updated security measure will play a huge role in preventing unauthorised access and allow complete visibility for officers through glass panels. It also features a monitoring station for smooth passenger flow management and automatic detention of watch listed individuals.
With the installation of E gates, Cheddi Jagan International Airport is reaching the status of standards worldwide and is making every possible effort to provide their passengers with the updated facilities, ensuring their visit comfortable and memorable.
These steps undertaken by the airport is a testament to their commitment towards modernising its operations. Moreover, earlier the Minister of Public Works, Bishop Juan Edghill also shared the details regarding the construction and rehabilitation work of VIP Section, at a new and existing commercial building.
While shedding light on those expansions, he asserted that as a part of the expansion, business and VIP lounges, a new and improved commercial centre, restaurants, and concession areas will be introduced for airside and land side access.
These expansions and upgradations undertaken by the airport authorities shed light on their commitment towards enhancing the overall experience of all the passengers.
