Dominica Unveils US $1.7 Million Champagne Beach Facility to Boost Tourism and Local Economy

Dominica: Contract Signing and Groundbreaking Ceremony for Champagne Modern Tourist Reception Facility held in Pointe Michel was addressed by Denise Charles Pemberton, Minister of tourism, on Thursday.
Minister Charles announced that the project is a step towards positioning Champagne Beach in Pointe Michel, Dominica’s tourism product, to a world-class status. More space for work, employment opportunities, economic activity, and income opportunities will be available both to Dominicans and visitors.
The above announcement was made on Thursday in Pointe Michel during the contract-signing and groundbreaking ceremony for the US $1.7 million Champagne Beach Modern Tourism Reception Facility.
“Today is a significant step forward in our nation’s commitment to develop all our natural wonders with modern multi-facilities that will provide our guests with comfortable, safe, and enjoyable experiences,” said Charles-Pemberton. The new facility will also include room for vendors, restaurant operators, tour operators, and changing rooms, making it an all-inclusive, convenient place to visit.
The panel of dignitaries present there included Julian Defoe, Minister of Agriculture, and Blue and Green Economy and Commanding Secretaries, Ms. Ronelia Williams.
The minister welcomed the construction of a modern resilient facility that would be magnificent and an iconic feature to the Champagne Beach. “Guests to Champagne will be able to relax and enjoy the scenic view of the area,” she said, emphasizing the improved experience the facility is projected to bring.
Besides this, the amenities are also all-inclusive of accessibility to the differently abled so that everyone can savor what the beaches have to offer. Meanwhile, Charles-Pemberton, who is also the Parliamentary Representative of Pointe Michel, emphasized the untapped tourism potential of Pointe Michel, Soufriere, Gallion and Scottshead.
The new Champagne Beach Modern Tourism Reception Facility marks a crucial step in unlocking the potentials, promising to raise the region’s profile on the global tourism map. Through the creation of modern and visitor-friendly environments, Dominica shall attract more tourists and develop a vibrant and sustainable tourism industry beneficial to the entire community.
