The Delegates’ Conference is all set to take place in Dominica, hosted by the Labour Party aiming to highlight several significant projects of the island nation as well as the issues and challenges faced by the small island developing states. This conference will be held on 10th November, 2024 under the theme, “A Future of Hope.”
This theme shed light on the main objective and commitment of the Dominica Labour Party to continue to make efforts to transform small island nations and bring a ray of hope that leads to sustainability and development in small island developing states (SIDS).
As per the details, the Dominica Labour Party has also extended an invitation to prominent delegates including the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J. Pierre and the Prime Minister of Grenada, Dickon Mitchell as the distinguished guests of the conference. Along with PM Roosevelt Skerrit, these two leaders will highlight several prospects and the measures required for the development of Dominica and other small island nations.
It is being reported that the Dominica Labour Party Delegates Conference will feature discussions on several topics including climate change, education, transportation, healthcare, agriculture and fisheries, tourism, cruise season and many more.
All these discussions are aimed at fostering and strengthening relations not only between the leaders of the Caribbean nations but also with the citizens of these three countries. This conference will provide an opportunity for the leaders of Dominica, Saint Lucia and Grenada to highlight the transformative projects currently underway or planned in their respective nations, all aimed at driving sustainable growth and development.
As per the details, the host of Delegates’ Conference, Dominica Labour Party, led by the Prime Minister, Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit expects to highlight several ongoing projects including, the International Airport, Cable Car, Cabrits Marina, Geothermal, Cruise village and many others.
The Prime Minister is expected to outline the further details on these respective projects and the commitment of his administration to the digital transformation of the island nation.
NEW INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
The much-awaited project of Dominica, New International Airport will mark its groundbreaking ceremony on 9th November, 2024, just a day before the conference. This new International Airport is expected to play a significant role in strengthening the tourism sector of the country and unlocking numerous opportunities for economic growth of Dominica.
The construction of the airport would also make it more accessible for the international visitors and market to explore and visit Dominica.
CABLE CAR
Dominica is on its mission to construct the world’s longest Cable Car which is expected to be ready by the end of 2025, aiming to transport visitors over the breath taking and scenic tourist sites in the Roseau Valley. This project has given employment to more than 200 people and many from the Roseau Valley.
The Cable Car’s operation will play a huge role in enhancing the tourists experience in the Nature Isle and open doors to several opportunities for the citizens to generate revenue, particularly for the people living in Roseau Valley.
CRUISE VILLAGE
Dominica is also constructing a modern Cruise Village which will play a huge role in enhancing the city of Roseau and providing efficient travel experience to all the visitors. The construction of this village is expected to rehabilitate the road network and providing a cheaper, reliable renewable energy and digitalizing the processes and services of the Government of Dominica.
CABRITS MARINA
The construction of Cabrits Marina is one of the transformative and significant projects of Dominica. It is expected to offer a range of services to operators of yachts, catamarans, sport-fishers and many others. The Marina will serve as a catalyst for economic growth and will create several new business opportunities and jobs for the people of Dominica.
The construction of marina will result in a sharp, sustained increase in stay-over arrivals, enhancing tourism as well as economic conditions of the country.
GEOTHERMAL POWER PLANT
The Prime Minister is also expected to highlight about the highly-anticipated project of Dominica, Geothermal Plant. This power plant will play a significant role in improving efficiency and ensuring reliable electricity services to the citizens of the Nature Isle. This is one of the biggest and crucial transformative projects undertaken by the island nation which will facilitate the transition to renewable energy and upgrade its electricity transmission network.
