United States Of America: Ten people were killed Monday, including a police officer, when a gunman opened fire at a supermarket in Boulder, Colorado, the second mass shooting in the U.S. in a week.
Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty stated, “These were people going about their day, doing their shopping,” to reporters.
The shooter was a white man. Boulder Police Commander Kerry Yamaguchi declared a suspect had been arrested.
“There is no ongoing federal threat,” Yamaguchi stated. “We do have an individual of interest in custody. That person was wounded during the incident and is being operated for the injuries.”
No motive for the attack was revealed. Matthew T. Kirsch, the First Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Colorado, told the FBI and other governmental agents will be assisting in the shooting. He promised that the “full weight of governmental law enforcement” will be drawn in the examination.
People have expressed their grief on Twitter. A Twitter user stated, “A white man murders 7 people at a supermarket in Colorado. And what do police officers do? They handle him with care and make sure he gets onto a stretcher for more help… But when a police officer has nothing but suspicion of a black kid, he shoots. Don’t ever ask me why I hate America.
Another Twitter user stated, “A family was at the pharmacy inside the supermarket waiting for their #Covid19 vaccines when the woman in front of them was shot. Some people went grocery shopping in Boulder. They won’t be coming home to make dinner. It’s too easy to get a gun in America.”
Another Twitter user stated, “Slain Colorado officer, father of seven, sought new life away from front line dangers: A U.S. police officer killed in a mass shooting at a Colorado supermarket on Monday had seven children and had been looking for a new job to protect his family, his father said.
