Barbados reported 40 new COVID-19 cases

Barbados is having 5,072 active COVID-19 cases on the island. Out of which 40 are recently reported in the last 24 hrs. This shows the increasing positivity rate of COVID-19 in the country.

According to the COVID-19 updation report, there are 370 total Barbadians in isolation. The health department has tested 2,64,023 people, of which 5,072 were reported positive, 2,491 were female, and 2,581 were male. A total of 1,665 tests have been conducted in a single day.

In Barbados, 1,11,148 people received their first shot of vaccine and 94,687 have been fully vaccinated with getting 2 shots according to the present time. 34.9%population have been fully vaccinated.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness’ Immunisation Unit has advised that first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine are available at all operating vaccination centres.

To combat COVID-19, Barbados has received 33,600 doses of Oxford Astra Zeneca vaccines under the COVAX facility from PAHO.

As Barbados received another batch of AstraZeneca vaccines in its “arsenal” to fight the virus, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has disclosed that just under 2,300 people were inoculated yesterday.

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

On Thursday, September 2, Harrison College; St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School; Princess Margaret Secondary School; Christ Church Parish Church Hall; the University of the West Indies Open Campus; The Lester Vaughan School and Alexandra School will be the school sites catering to students.

The non-school sites are Building No.2, Harbour Industrial Park, and Eunice Gibson Polyclinic.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 3

The school sites which will open on Friday, September 3, are Harrison College; St. Leonard’s Boys’ Secondary School; Princess Margaret Secondary School; Christ Church Parish Church Hall; the University of the West Indies Open Campus and The Lester Vaughan School.

The non-school sites are Building No.2, Harbour Industrial Park; the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic, and the Masonic Centre, Salters, St. George.

All sites run from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. daily.

The Unit encourages persons who have passed the eight-week mark since their first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to go to any site for the second dose.
