Barbados Community College Hospitality Institute to be named after Norma Holder
Norma Holder had passed away in 2016.

The Barbados junior college Hospitality Institute (BCCHI) is going to be renamed ‘the Jean and Norma Holder Hospitality Institute and Hotel PomMarine’, after the husband and wife team, who worked extensively within the fields of culture, education, hospitality and tourism.
Institute, Marine Gardens, Hastings, Christ Church would be the venue for the renaming ceremony that would be held on June 23rd 2021.
Norma Holder has been an important figure for the development of the Barbados Community College Hospitality Institute and also following the historical background of the college of Barbados Hotel School. Norma Holder had passed away in 2016. She was also the former principal of BCC.
Educator Norma Holder started her career as ad Assistant Tutor at Barbados Community College during the time period of 1969. After this, in 1988, she was promoted to the principal of BCC, and she remains in the same seat and handles the same authority till her retirement in the year 2004. Moreover, her husband, Dr Jean Holder, held the seat and authority of secretary-general in the office of the Caribbean Tourism Organization till the time of retirement in 2003. After that, he also served as the Chairman of LIAT until he retired from there in 2016.
The building of BCCHI was located on the same site where the former Marine Hotel In Balmoral Gap, Hastings, Christ Church was officially inaugurated on February 8th 1997.
It is a purpose-built facility including classrooms, laboratories, and a fully functioning 20-room hotel – Hotel PomMarine.
From over the past 25 years, the strength of more than 7,900 students have been graduated from the Barbados Community College Hospitality Institute and have moved further to achieve their goals and pursue their careers in the same field of Hospitality and Tourism sectors. Whether locally, regionally and internationally.
Hotel PomMarine operates as a preparation facility for students, with a business ingredient that produces income through the hotel, conference and meeting centre and two restaurants – Golden Apple and Muscovado.
