“My Coral Buddies And Me” is a book that has been written with an aim to increase knowledge and awareness for the marine environment, especially the vital role of coral reefs to maintain the healthy status of the ocean. This book is published by the Blue Green Initiative Inc . and written by its co-founder Crystal Drakes.

The book’s coral characters Earl Elk, Brainy Bob, Samantha, Fire Fred, Starlight, and Polly Polyp shed light on the significance of coral reefs to other marine species and humans and the difficulties they face, such as climate change.

The My Coral Buddies and Me activity book is produced by BGI’s Be Blue School Tour, which began in 2020 in cooperation with Sandals Foundation and backed by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and the Blue Economy. Due to COVID-19, BGI could not tour the eight designated primary schools over the island to educate them about the ocean.

2 underwater painting painted by artist Jehmilah Wood at the Blackman and Gollop and Bay Primary schools are the places included in the tour.

The young Barbadian writer Shakirah Bourne writes a free book, My Coral buddies and Me, cricket calamity that is a free comic book written. This book is ready to be released by the Blue Green Initiative Inc.

The comic e-book will join scientific information with the genuine Caribbean culture. It will be in storytelling so children can relate to the marine environment and feel empowered to be a neighborhood of the environmental action in Barbados and across the Caribbean region.
