Bahamas to help Botswana improve tourism and hospitality sector
Prime Minister Philip Davis of The Bahamas is on a four-day visit of Botswana and is looking to facilitate a revamp of the tourism and hospitality sectors of the nation by extending his support and allowing Botswana to use The Bahamas as an example.

Prime Minister Philip Davis of the Bahamas is on a four-day visit to Botswana and is looking to facilitate a revamp of the tourism and hospitality sectors of the nation by extending his support and allowing Botswana to use the Bahamas as an example.
President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi organized a joint press conference, during which PM Davis stated the following, “This exchange will undoubtedly enrich both our countries, fostering growth and innovation Furthermore, The Bahamas remains committed to assisting the Central Bank of Botswana in the development of its digital currency. This venture speaks to our shared vision of embracing technology for economic advancement.”
Prime Minister Davis arrived in Botswana on the 18th of March and is slated to end his visit on the 22nd of March. His entourage includes dignitaries like Fredrick Mitchell, the Minister of Foreign Affairs; Minister of Economic Affairs, Michael Halkitis; the Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Mario Bowleg and John Pinder, the Parliamentary Secretary of Tourism, Investment and Aviation.
It has been made clear by the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM), that the visit is being looked at by both nations as the perfect opportunity to sign collaborative agreements, which will allow both nations to benefit mutually in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, banking, climate change and education.
The Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has also said that Botswana is a prosperous nation which boasts one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. This creates opportunities for both nations to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with each other while they chart new paths for educational, economic and trade opportunities together.
Prime Minister Davis has deemed the first day of the visit to have been a success, adding that both nations had availed the opportunity presented to them, to sign agreements which allow them to develop their abilities and skills.
Prime Minister Davis stated the following via a social media post, “We’ve secured valuable scholarships for Bahamian students, a testament to our commitment to education and mutual growth. We also signed an MOU between BAMSI and Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources.”
“Our discussions also explored enhancing digital economy initiatives, promoting financial cooperation, and establishing a diamond depository in Grand Bahama to boost trade. Each step we take is aimed at fostering sustainable development and opening new doors for Bahamians. Looking forward to more fruitful discussions and partnerships that benefit our nations.”
The Bahamas have come to find that Botswana can be a significant partner to the Caribbean nation. As an emerging economy in the south of Africa, Botswana continues to find stronger footing in the region and the world.
