: Prime Minister of the twin-island state of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne congratulated Caleb Gardiner for becoming the newest as well as youngest Senator of the country.

Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister of the twin-island state of Antigua and Barbuda Gaston Browne congratulated Caleb Gardiner for becoming the newest as well as youngest Senator of the country. The 23-year-old Gardiner received the instrument of appointment on December 1, 2022.
While extending his good wishes, PM Browne noted, “Congratulations to the country’s newest and youngest Senator, Caleb Gardiner. Senator Caleb Gardiner received his instruments of appointment today at Government House at the age of 23.”
Senator Gardiner is currently the Vice President-Elect of JCI Antigua and was the first President of the Guild of Students for The University of the West Indies Five Islands Campus.
The post by the official of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda read, “The administration led by PM Gaston Browne has been committed to providing youthful leaders with opportunities since day one.”
Prime Minister furthermore praised one of the youngest Senators and outlined, “Senator Shenella Govia was designated to the Senate at the age of 22 years and has performed marvellously as the youngest Senator ever appointed in the history of Antigua and Barbuda.”
Now, Gardiner is the youngest lawmaker in both the Houses of the country, following the appointment of the youngest person Shenella Govia. He took the oath of office at Government House on the morning of Thursday, ahead of taking the oath of allegiance at the upcoming sitting of the Upper House of Parliament within days. He is the newest Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party senator, replacing Senator Eustace ‘Teco’ Lake, who is retiring.
