Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister Gaston Browne received the prestigious Legacy Award at the Awards Gala in New York on April 22, 2022.
After receiving the award, Prime Minister Browne expressed gratitude and stated, “Gratitude extended to everyone to include my Cabinet colleagues, my wife Maria, and Antigua and Barbuda’s people in general, who have contributed to my achievements”.
He further stated, “This award is in essence for the people of Antigua and Barbuda whose trust and support I shall always honour. Tonight, I renew my unwavering commitment to continue to serve and empower all the citizens and residents of our beautiful twin-island state”.
“Much love and blessings,” he concluded.
The Awards Gala was hosted in New York City on Thursday and themed, “Together, through our resilience and determination, we can conquer any adversity.”
This, Hilary said, is a perfect background due to Prime Minister Browne’s forceful and unapologetic discourse on the issue of Climate Change, citing the apparent absence of urgency by the developed and industrialized nations to arrest the crisis meaningfully.
“Part of your abiding legacy will be the ability of the people of Antigua and Barbuda to leverage their resilience and determination to overcome challenges and to be better for it in the aftermath. The remarkable resurgence of your country’s economy, post the devastation caused by hurricanes Maria and Irma, also stand as a formidable reference in the annals of history,” Hilary pointed out.
