Anderson Peters concludes season on winning note, wins gold at Brussels Diamond League

The elite javelin thrower of Grenada, Anderson Peters added another accolade to his collection by claiming the top spot at the Brussels Diamond League meet with a remarkable throw of 87.87m. He ended his season on a high note, winning the gold medal on Saturday, 14th September 2024.
Ace Indian javelin throw athlete, Neeraj Chopra came in second with a best attempt of 87.86m on the day, behind Anderson Peters’ effort of 87.87m. He was followed by Julian Weber of Germany who claimed the bronze medal with a throw of 85.97m.
With his continuous victories on an international platform, Peters is enhancing its reputation as one of the top javelin throwers worldwide. Anderson Peters opened the event by marking the best throw on his first attempt and maintained the position in order to claim the gold medal.
Following his exceptional victory in Wanda Diamond League, Anderson Peters expressed gratitude on ending the season on a winning note. He also lauded his coach Paul Phillip and termed his teachings as a “legendary coaching.”
After winning the Brussels Diamond League Final by just a mark of 0.01m, Peters stated that it doesn’t matter if you win by an inch, a centimeter, or a mile. “Winning is just winning, Ask any athlete or any real competitor.”
The Wanda Diamond League extended congratulations to the athlete and called his arm the strongest, making a throw of 87.87m in the men’s javelin to win and take the trophy.
This season has been proved to be exceptional for Grenada’s Javelin King, Anderson Peters. As, he won the bronze medal in the Men’s Javelin throw at the Paris Olympics 2024. He displayed excellent form from the starting round of the event and hit the best mark of 88.54m on his fourth attempt to win a medal for his nation.
He finished behind, Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem, setting a new Olympic record with 92.97m and Neeraj Chopra, earning a silver medal with a mark of 89.45m.
Following that, he participated at the Lausanne Diamond League 2024 and set a new meeting record of 90.61m to win the gold medal. He surpassed the previous record of Keshorn Walcott of Trinidad and Tobago of 90.16m.
In the Lausanne Diamond League as well, Indian Neeraj Chopra finished second with his new season best 89.49m. After that, Peters competed at Fribourg Track Lab in Switzerland and again won the event by setting a new stadium record of 81.18m. During this event, Peters was battling through illness and his body was completely weak but he still managed to showcase his best position and made all his countrymen proud.
With this victory, he continued to participate at Zurich Diamond League, where he was battling through the weakness caused due to illness. However, Peters didn’t let that overpowered him and he again won the event with a throw of 85.72m, setting a new stadium record.
After winning the Finals of Brussels Diamond League and the last event of the season, Peters has concluded his 2024 journey on an exceptional note.
