As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games came to an end on a good note, Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness expressed his immense appreciation and pride in the Jamaican athletes for an outstanding show.

In a message, Prime Minister of Jamaica Holness congratulated the Jamaican team for their outstanding performance, emerging with six medals, emphasizing the zeal they exhibited while defending the Jamaica colors.

To begin with, Prime Minister Holness provided his approval of athletes’ hard work, their achievements, and the pride they awakened in every Jamaican. He congratulated athletes from Jamaica who showcased sheer determination throughout the event.

Some of the remarkable were the gold gained by Roje Stona in the men’s discus throw was an amazing accomplishment, which put him among the greatest athlete in this field. This victory not only ensured that Jamaica got its first gold of the Games but also considered one of the best achievements in Jamaican track and field.

Prime Minister Holness also congratulated those who got the silver, who, according to him, performed incredibly and deserved their appreciation. Kishane Thompson’s impressive run in the 100 meters earned him a silver medal and Wayne Pinnock launching himself sky high for a silver in the long jump for Jamaica. With another silver coming from an experienced competitor like Shanieka Ricketts, in the women’s triple jump, which contributed to the total result of the team.

Apart from these successes, the Prime Minister acknowledged the bronze medal performances that pointed to the level of talent in Jamaican team. In the 110 meters hurdles, Rasheed Broadbell cashed in a bronze medal while Rajindra Campbell also secured a bronze medal in shot put.

In his message, PM Holness stated deep gratitude not only to the medalists but to every athlete, the coaches, and other staffs who contributed to the Olympic movement of the nation. “I would like to appreciate all the athletes, coaches, and the staff of the Olympics for representing the country to the best,” he said. “Your achievements are that of the tourism product of the Jamaica and we support you all the way with pride and thankfulness.”
