Georgetown, Guyana: Amanda Persaud, a 25-year-old vendor and a mother of one, was beaten to death after she refused to reunite with her abusive husband in Parika Facade.

It is to be noted that the victim was identified as being from Parika Façade, East Bank Essequibo (EBE). The suspect has been identified as 39-year-old Guradeen Lallaram, also known as ‘Krishna.’

Notably, the incident happened on Sunday at around 05:30 on the road, which is several houses away from the victim’s home.

Further, Devi Persaud, the sister of a 25-year-old, revealed that Lallaram and Persaud are a married couple and have been living together for over four years. They have a 3-year-old child together.

As per the reports, she also disclosed that the couple lived with her sister’s relatives. Devi informed the reporters that the suspect had been physically and verbally assaulting the victim for the past year.

“Whenever there is an argument between the two, he would physically and verbally assault her in our presence. For the past one year now, he has rapidly assaulted her. A month ago, there was an argument between the two, and he chuck her up and hit her, and so, he packed up his belongings, moved out, and went to his parent’s place. But he kept visiting to see his daughters. We don’t stop him. My sister got fed up with his abusive behaviour; she decided that she would no longer get back together with him”, Devi added.

Noting this, the woman revealed that Lallaram would stalk Amanda and keep an eye on her.

“She can’t go nowhere or do anything. He’s always stalking her. Yesterday around midday, he came to our place, and he was asking her to get back together, but she didn’t answer him. he then asked her for a cup of water, and when she went to give it to him, he asked her what she decided, and she didn’t answer, so he took the cup with the water and threw it in her face in my presence”, then the woman went on to reveal.

Further, Devi said that the victim called her at around 06:10 and was screaming on the phone while his husband was beating her. She took about ten minutes to reach the scene. She found a 25-year-old lying on the road.

Notably, she witnessed that the blood was coming out of her nose, her head had a big hole, and she was in and out of consciousness.

She immediately took her to the Leonora Cottage Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The victim’s body is currently lying at the Ezekiel Funeral Home, awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.
