Windies players Deandra Dottin and Afy Fletcher named in ICC T20 World Cup Team of Tournament

Two West Indies women players namely, Deandra Dottin and Afy Fletcher made a historic milestone by securing the place in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament. Their name in the list of the Team of the Tournament shed light on their unwavering hard work and dedication towards bringing glory to the nation’s name.

The inclusion of both Deandra Dottin and Afy Fletcher in the list shed light on the crucial knocks and deliveries played and throwed by both the women in helping the team lead towards remarkable victories.

Deandra Dottin, a right-handed batter and right-arm fast bowler showcased versatile performance in the tournament, scoring 120 runs in 5 innings and claiming five wickets. She also showcased her outstanding performance against New Zealand in the semi-finals, claiming 4 wickets by giving away only 22 runs, shedding light on her ability to play during the tough situations.

Meanwhile, Afy Fletcher remained excellent in the bowling section, claiming 10 wickets in total, including 3 wicket hauls against Scotland and England respectively. Her best figures i.e. 3-21 came out against England, where she sent three batters back to the pavilion and made a greater contribution in the game against England by leading the team towards semi-finals.

Their performances were highly appreciated by not only the management of the West Indies Cricket but also the citizens of the country who have been pouring congratulatory messages to both the players for their unwavering spirit and determination.

Though, West Indies could not reach the finals, all the Women are getting lauded for their never giving-up spirit. Moreover, the Kiwis women outshined this year, winning their first ever ICC T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 32 runs.
