Venezuelan national charged with attempted murder in Guyana
A Venezuelan national was charged with the murder of Chetram Ramjattan, 43 years old, a resident of Lot 53 Kilcoy, Settlement Berbice.

A Venezuelan national was charged with the murder of Chetram Ramjattan, 43 years old, a resident of Lot 53 Kilcoy, Settlement Berbice.
The Venezuelan citizen, identified as Simone Will, 28-year-old labourer, was taken to the New Amsterdam Magistrate and was presented before Magistrate Peter Hugh for the murder of Chetram at Fyrish Village.
The Magistrate appeared virtually in the court, and the court hearing was conducted between Saturday, 25th November and Thursday, 30th November 2023.
Will has been remanded to the prison until 27th December 2023.
As per the victim’s sister, her brother was seen alive on Sunday, 26th November 2023. Kamaldai Ramjattan, the sister of the victim, told the team of the investigation that many contacts were made to locate her brother’s location, but he was found nowhere.
This resulted in Kamaldai going to the Albion Police Station at around 12:00 hrs on Wednesday, 29th November 2023 and she reported to the officers about the missing person.
Subsequently, the higher ranks from the Albion Police Station went to search for Chetram and tried to contact him, but his phone was not able to connect. So, the police officers conducted a search to find the missing.
Seeram Ramjattan, a 42-year-old, unemployed resident of Lot 103 Fyrish Village, Corentyne and the others involved in the search party continued their search at around 6:00 hrs on Thursday, 30th November 2023.
As per the information, the search team was in the surroundings of Arjune Chicken Farm at Fyrish Village when they found Chetram Ramjattan’s body in a pond.
The victim was seen wearing red and white track pants without any shirt and his body was found in a pond, which was facing downwards.
As per the reports, the victim’s body was also taken for the examination and many stab wounds were seen below the victim’s neck.
Many injuries were also found on the head of the victim that were likely to be created by several chop wounds.
Moreover, the body of the victim was picked up and taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival by Dr Rahaman.
Later on, the body was taken to the Ramoo Funeral Home and is still waiting for the post-mortem examination to be conducted.
As per the latest information by the Police, three people were apprehended in relation to Chetram’s death, which also includes Will.
