Vector Control Unit, Health Ministry to fog in St Lucy, St James & St Peter; Know schedule
The Ministry of Health and Wellness, along with Vector Control Unit is continuing its efforts to control the spread of mosquitoes in the three parishes of St Lucy, St James and St Peter.

Bridgetown, Barbados: The Ministry of Health and Wellness is continuing its efforts to control the spread of mosquitoes in the three parishes of St Lucy, St James and St Peter. The Ministry is collaborating with the Vector Control Unit to facilitate fogging activity.
As per reports, the mosquito breeding is scheduled to held in several regions of the island from this week and goes till the end of the week. The fogging will take place in between the hours of 4:30 to 8:30 pm daily.
Fogging schedule
The Vector Control Unit is set to begin its mosquito breeding exercise on Monday and will cover various areas of St Lucy, St James and St Peter. The following are the dates and times scheduled by the Ministry according to the locations.
Monday, March 18
The Unit will fog several districts of St Lucy including the areas of Coles Cave Road, Grape Hall, Crab Hill No 2, Archers Bay, Content, Salmond and Long Gap.
Tuesday, March 19
Following the Monday, the fogging team will return to that parish and will visit Mount View Road, Jemmotts, Josey Hill, Nestfield, Durham, Mount Gay, Pickerings, Rock Hall Road and Alexandra.
Wednesday, March 20
The team will proceed to St Peter for the mosquito eradication efforts in the districts such as Collins, Date Tree Hill, When Graveyard, Boscobel, Moore Hill, Gays, Castle, Diamond Corner and other surrounding areas.
Thursday, March 21
The Mosquito breeding will be scheduled to be held in the communities of St James. The Unit will focus on spraying in the following regions, i.e., Pineapple Avenue, Store House Road, Prescod Road, Taylor Gap, Upper Mount Standfast, Weston, Fox Club Road, Reid Gap, Husband Road and The Garden.
Friday, March 22
The fogging exercise for the week will conclude on Friday in Ince Walk, Trent’s Tenantry, Jamestown Park, Glitter Bay Terrace, Patanne Gardens, Haynes View Close, Store House Road, Willow Heights Drive, Pavilion Grove, Heron Court, and Mango Drive.
Notably, the general public in the particular areas is advised to keep the doors and windows of their houses open to allow the spray to enter the premises. The authorities also urged residents not to allow their children to play outside in the fog to avoid sickness.
The fogging activities may be affected by the events beyond the Unit’s control. Considerably, the Unit is expected to return to the affected communities as soon as possible.
