Turks and Caicos records 13.64% surge in air arrivals

Turks and Caicos: It is a huge development for the tourism sector of Turks and Caicos as the island nation witnessed a surge of 13.64% in its air arrivals in contrast to 2023. The island nation welcomed around a total of 408,749 visitors in June which is 28.4% more as compared to the travellers that arrived during the last year.

The arrival of visitors in June 2024 is considered as the highest year-over-year growth for Turks and Caicos of any month. While shedding light on such surge, the Tourism Minister of Turks and Caicos, Josephine Connolly stated that it is a testament to the unwavering commitment and dedication of the government towards enhancing Turks and Caicos as a premier destination for all the travellers.

The tourism minister stated that it is the hard work and dedication of all the authorities that Turks and Caicos which is known as one of the hottest destinations in the wider Caribbean has not really slow down since its travel reopening in 2020 after pandemic.

And, while shedding light on air surge, she expressed that they are very overwhelmed by seeing positive response of all the tourists towards the country. She also expressed her excitement about the first-ever flight services launched by American Airlines to South Caicos.

She added that these non-stop services from Miami would play a huge role in expanding the tourism sector and bringing a large number of international travellers to the country, elevating the tourism sector to greater heights. She stated that the non-stop services from American Airlines will open up their multi-island destination to even more visitors and spend for their industry.

Tourism Minister, Connolly also talked about the development in the hospitality sector of the country and shed light on welcoming a new resort. She stated that Turks and Caicos is definitely setting the bar for hotel data categories like average daily rates.

While emphasising on it, she remarked that in February 2025, the island nation is all set to welcome Salterra, to South Caicos. The Minister added that this resort will be a part of Marriott’s Luxury Collection – a halo hotel for the island.

The tourism minister continued to say that they are making several measures in order to enhance the tourism sector of the country. They added that tourism being the backbone of the nation has also helped Turks and Caicos developing its economic conditions.

And she stated that their government is committed to continuing to offer vibrant offerings to all the travellers of the nation. She added that the arrival of tourists is always a special moment as it enhances the businesses of local citizens and fosters the nation’s rich cultural heritage.
