Dominica’s Kavem Hodge achieved another significant milestone in his career as he scored 158 runs unbeaten in 251 balls in the West Indies Championship 2024.
West Indies Championship is a four-day series in which eight teams are competing against each other to emerge victorious. The championship was started on 7th February and will continue till 20th April 2024.
It is to be noted that Kavem Hodge is a part of Windward Islands Volcanoes and he played a dominating knock against Combined Campuses and Colleges. Notably, the game was begun on 22nd February, 2024 and the toss was won by the Windward Islands and they decided to bowl first.
The playing XI which was selected for the game against Combined Campuses and Colleges, includes, Alick Athanaze, Kimani Melius, Sunil Ambris, Kavem Hodge, Johann Jeremiah, Ryan John, Darel Cyrus, Jeremy Solozano, Shamar Springer, Gilon Tyson and Tevyn Walcott.
The excellent bowling by Darel Cyrus and his six-wicket haul played a crucial role in summing up the first inning of Combined Campuses and Colleges in 204 runs in 72 overs.
Following that, the Windward Islands stepped in the ground to bat and Sunil Ambris-Kavem Hodge’s partnership became one of the highlighting factors of the match as both the players scored 100 plus runs and positioned their team into a very strong side.
Sunil Ambris’s innings came to an end on 120 runs with 10 fours and 4 sixes and marked himself as the first batter of Windwards Volcanoes to cross the three-digit mark. After his wicket, Kavem Hodge played the knock with more patience and maturity.
Day two of the game summarised with 204 scores of Combined Campuses and Colleges and 358 runs with 8 wickets down of Windwards Islands Volcanoes.
Meanwhile, the first innings of Windward Island Volcanoes summed up in 395 runs and day 3 of the series concluded with 271 runs with 6 wickets for Combined Campuses and Colleges.
Therefore, both teams will be focusing on giving their best to emerge victorious.
