Trinidad police held two with firearm and narcotics in Port of Spain and Central Divisions

The law enforcement authority of Trinidad and Tobago held two male suspects and seized illegal possessions during the weekend crime eradication exercises in the Port of Spain and Central Divisions. The officers seized a firearm, quantities of cocaine, and cannabis on Friday, 13 September, and Saturday, 14 September.

The information on the intelligence-based legal actions in the regions of the Port of Spain and Central Divisions was shared by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. The official updates on the successful mission were disclosed on Sunday, 15 September.

The first exercise was reported in the region of Central Division which was conducted by the divisional police unit. The operation was conducted on Friday between the hours of 09:30 pm and 11:40 pm. The target of the mission was the locality along Railway Road, Caroni, Trinidad.

In the operation of Caroni, the two men were suspected who were spotted by the police team with a firearm during the surveillance. The police officers approached the two men, but the suspects attempted to escape the space.

After a small chase, one man among two was caught by the officers and was held with a firearm, which was a shotgun. The suspect was a 20-year-old man who was also carrying a 12-gauge cartridge in his pants pocket while another one was loaded in the gun.

Subsequently, the man in his early twenties got arrested and was transferred to the police station along with a shotgun for further proceedings. Another crime eradication exercise was conducted  by the officers from the Inter-Agency Task Force on Saturday.

The action was taken with the assistance of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force in the locality of the Belmont district. The operation was stretched from 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm. It is disclosed that the assigned police team intercepted a motor car at a high rate of speed.

The motor vehicle was a Hyundai Elantra car of blue color, which was chrashed at a short distance from where police attempted to stop the car. The car was occupied by a 20-year-old man who was mentioned in the reports as a resident of Arima, Trinidad.

The police officers took the situation into their own hands and started the search. In the search of the vehicle, police collected six large plastic packets. The packets contained a quantity of cocaine and cannabis.

Reportedly, the seized cocaine weighed around 1.12 kgs with an estimated value on the street of 65 thousand dollars. The cannabis collected in the search weighed around 3.2 kgs with an estimated value on the street of 256 thousand dollars.
