Trinidad and Tobago receives shipment of 108,700 doses of the Johnson &Johnson
The Government procured the vaccine with the help of the African Union

Trinidad and Tobago received the first tranche of 108,700 doses of the Johnson &Johnson vaccine. The shipment arrived in Trinidad and Tobago at Piarco International Airport at 3.10 pm Friday and was given to the government officials.
Due to a delay in the flight, the doses were expected to reach at 7 pm on Thursday.
While talking to the reporters, the Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs said that he was on the site to check the delivery of the vaccines. By 3.20 pm, the shipment was being offloaded from an Amerijet aircraft.
The Government procured the vaccine with the help of the African Union. In June, PM Rowley announced that the country had secured 800,000 of the Johnson and Johnson vaccine from the African Medical Supplies Platform to quicken the national vaccination programme.
Before the arrival of the recent shipment, the African Union first donated 20 doses for TT Olympic athletes in July.
257 new COVID-19 positive cases reported in Trinidad and Tobago. According to the statistics T&T experienced 7 deaths due to COVID-19 virus. The stats shows the constant positivity rate that country has been experiencing.
Till present total of 2,95,872 tests have been conducted in Trinidad and Tobago at both public and private facilities. In these total tests, 42,839 confirmed cases till present, out of which 35,896 have been recovered.
The total number of positive patients in Trinidad and Tobago had reached 5,728in this 257 are new cases that had been reported recently in the last 24 hrs.
The hospitals have been occupied by 323 patients at present in T&T. 1,215 patients have also died due to the COVID-19 virus in the country.
Till 4 pm 4,72,946 patients have been given the first dose of COVID-19 vaccines out of these vaccinated persons 115,890 got AstraZeneca Oxford vaccine, 3,49,718 got Sino pharm vaccine and 7,338 doses of Pfizer, 20 Johnson & Johnson.
Thus 3,55,822 out of the total population got fully vaccinated.
