Trinidad and Tobago: Eight Arrested, Two Firearms Seized in Southern Division, informs TTPS

Trinidad and Tobago: Eight persons were arrested, and officers of the Southern Division seized two illegal firearms during a Divisional Firearm Interdiction and Narcotics Eradication exercise.

The exercise was conducted between 2.00 pm on 10th October and 2 am on 11th October 2022, using the Grid Patrol System. The eight suspects were arrested for various offences, ranging from possessing firearms and ammunition to possessing marijuana and robbery-related enquiries.

Officers of the Southern Division also seized two firearms, including one pistol, one pump action shotgun, a quantity of ammunition, and an amount of marijuana.

The suspects are from Marabella, Golconda, Siparia, Pleasantville, Princes Town, and Embacadere and range between 18 and 33 years of age.

Investigations are continuing in the matter, informed Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.

Such cases are expected in Trinidad and Tobago. On the heels of the arrest of eleven suspects, the seizure of four firearms and the recovery of a stolen vehicle due to the use of the Grid Patrol System, one more suspect was held, and two more guns were seized yesterday.

In the first exercise, Central Division officers executed several search warrants in the Claxton Bay district between 5:30 am and 10 am on Sunday, 9th October 2022.

During the exercise, a 28-year-old man of the district was also arrested for having a pistol loaded with one magazine, two rounds of 9mm ammunition and 200 grammes of marijuana.

In the second exercise, North Eastern Division Task Force officers and the Canine Branch conducted various searches in the Aranguez district between 2 pm and 5 pm yesterday.

The police authority found a revolver and three magazines in a bushy area at Small Street, Morvant.
