Tragic collision claims St Catherine North Police officer’s life

Kingston, Jamaica: A police constable died while his motorcycle collided with a Toyota Fielder motorcar on Wednesday at St Catherine. It is to be noted that the car and the bike both were damaged to a great extent.

The police officer was identified as Renaldo Spence of age 29-year-old. He was working at the St Catherine North Police Division and Church Pen in Old Harbour.

According to the reports, it has been said that the incident took place at around 1:15 am when Spence was driving his motorcycle along a roadway. While driving, he reached the vicinity of Island Farms where due to the disbalance of the vehicle, he hit the car.

The car was discovered to be a Toyota Fielder motor car, which was travelling in the opposite direction. Both the vehicles collided with each other which resulted in a terrible accident.

If sources are to be believed, it is said that both the vehicles were extensively damaged and the drivers sustained severe injuries.

People around the scene immediately reported the matter to the police and the officials responded to the incident. Upon arrival at the location, they found both the driver lying motionless on the ground. The officers took them to Spanish Town Hospital.

The medical practitioners treated them however, Spence succumbed to his injuries. Further, the crash is being investigated by the police. The officials urged the public with any information to come forward and assist them with their investigation.

Additionally, the news has been shared by various social media pages and many citizens took to their Facebook handle to express their grief and condolences to the family and friends of Spence.

While reacting to the news, a person named Marionne Bryson commented, “Oh no. sad. Condolences to his entire family and the Police Force. Much strength as you mourn your loss. May his soul rest in peace.

Another FB user, by the name of Ionie Gillispie wrote, “Condolences to the bereaved family and his colleagues. May God continues to give them strength at such a time as this.”
