St Vincent & the Grenadines to export first legal cargo of cannabis to Germany

St Vincent and the Grenadines – (SVG) will be exporting its first-ever legal export of medicinal cannabis to Germany, Europe. On January 5, 2022, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines administration approved the first export certificate to supply cannabis.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar underscored, “St Vincent and the Grenadines is all ready for international business in the Medicinal Wellness Industry space. We invite the globe to participate!”
With this, St Vincent and the Grenadines becomes the first-ever member state of the Caribbean organisation (OECS), which have been granted permission to export medicinal cannabis. The Caribbean Cannabis Company has been endowed permission for the legal export.
For this milestone to be achieved, the minister thanked the team at the Medicinal Cannabis Authority (MCA), which is being headed by Chief Executive Officer Dr Jerrol Thompson.
An import certificate was earlier issued by the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices for the product to legally enter Germany, after which the permission has been granted.
The minister further noted, “SVG has unfurled an influential global opportunity for partnership among member states of the OECS wishing to participate in the international medical cannabis industry”.
“I invite all member states of the OECS with the established medicinal cannabis policy frameworks to join forces for the sustainable development of what can become a world competitive sub-regional medicinal wellness ecosystem”, he added.
For the d-day, the jurisdiction of the SVG has been working tenaciously with several governments, international agencies, local public and private sector stakeholders for the past three years.
Apart from this, a diversified medicinal wellness platform will be established by the government of St Vincent and the Grenadines. This platform will comprise traditional medicines & the emerging psychedelics doctor-assisted treatment initiative.
Cannabis is also called by the name of marijuana and is a psychoactive drug that is obtained from the Cannabis plant.
