St Kitts Dept of Youth Empowerment recalls Minister Isalean Phillip as mentor at Girls Mentorship Programme

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: St Kitts Department of Youth Empowerment, on March 30, 2023, shared an update regarding the official visit of Minister of Youth Empowerment, Isalean Phillip, as a Mentor at the Washington Archibald High School Women Empowering Girls Mentorship Programme, in September 2022.

The social media post read, “Last September, our Minister of Youth Empowerment, who is also responsible for Social Development, Gender Affairs, Ageing and Disabilities, Isalean Phillip, was a Mentor at the Washington Archibald High School Women Empowering Girls Mentorship Programme.”

While recalling the major objective of the programme, the Department stated that the Women Empowering Girls Mentorship Programme targeted young ladies in fifth form who are on their way into the world and allows them to be paired with mentors in a setting similar to speed dating.

It furthermore added that the women would provide advice, a listening ear, love and support to the young girls where they are encouraged to always rise above challenges despite circumstances, sharing their personal stories of overcoming.

While concluding the post, the youth department of St Kitts and Nevis praised the founders of the programme for providing a platform for young women to raise their voices and get aware of their rights. Through the platform, the department especially lauded Youth Officer Kristen Hendrickson, who is one of the founders of this amazing programme that gives youth a voice and inspires greatness.

This government organisation has been working days and nights for the upliftment and growth of youngsters, especially women, across the island nation of St Kitts and Nevis. The department for youth development has been recognised for organising and hosting events and activities.

Recently, the department has shared a flyer from Youth Officers Troy’Nia Douglas and Guevelle Pemberton of Zone 1 for the month of March. The flyer has been informing the general public about “What’s happening at the Youth Department?” It shared information about opportunities, stuff to think about, and volunteer corps sign-up.
