The Government of St Kitts and Nevis extended a warm welcome to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Lin Chia-Lung. His visit to the island nation underscores the commitment of the authorities of both the nations to continue to make efforts to strengthen their relations.
Notably, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance Drew warmly greeted Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Lin Chia-Lung at the airport. The other delegates who were present at the airport included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Denzil Douglas and Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to the Federation, Michael Lin.
A troupe of dancers performed beautifully to make the welcoming ceremony more memorable for Lin Chia-Lung.
While sharing the glimpses of the arrival of Minister Chia-Lung to St Kitts and Nevis, Dr. Terrance stated that it is truly a pleasure for him to welcome him to their beautiful Federation. He also emphasised on the relations between St Kitts and Nevis and Taiwan.
The Prime Minister added that they are continuing to make efforts to enhance their relations with Taiwan. Along with that, he also expressed his wishes for the progress, peace and prosperity of the nation.
“It was indeed a pleasure to welcome His Excellency Lin Chia-Lung, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), to our beautiful Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
During his visit to St Kitts and Nevis, the Minister Chia-Lung also paid a courtesy call to the Governor-General of Saint Kitts and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd on Thursday, 31st October, 2024.
Their meeting was conducted at the Government House and both the delegates exchanged significant dialogues on longstanding bilateral relation between St. Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan) that has benefitted the peoples of both nations.
After his meeting with the Governor-General, the Foreign Minister of Taiwan, Lin Chia-Lung met with Members of the Federal Cabinet of St Kitts and Nevis. This meeting was led by the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew, who expressed gratitude to Taiwan on behalf of the Government and people of the island nation.
The Prime Minister stated that he is extremely grateful for the tremendous support shown by the Government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) over the years. He added that it is their assistance which has led to the significant advancements in St Kitts and Nevis in diverse fields including health, agriculture and renewable energy.
Moreover, the Foreign Minister of Taiwan later continued his engagements in St Kitts and Nevis with a meeting with his counterpart Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in the Federal Government, Dr. Denzil Douglas.
Both the Minister held several discussions on a number of matters of mutual interest, beneficial for both the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis and the Republic of China (Taiwan).
