St Kitts and Nevis: Tragic Incident at Panorama Competition

St Kitts and Nevis: A member of the Nevis Community Development Steel Orchestra, while performing at a panorama competition, experienced a medical emergency and died on December 27, 2023 (Wednesday).

The Panorama Competition held at Warner Park Cricket Stadium witnessed a tragic incident as the performer, while performing in the orchestra, experienced an emergency and was taken to hospital immediately. Despite getting all the required treatment, the performer failed to survive.

Such a heartbreaking loss has shocked the people and not only the steelpan fraternity is mourning but also a wider community is following this. 

Where, the Competition was expected to spread the pleasure and joy in the region with the electrifying performances of various artists; Dj-EK The Real Right, SKELEC Power Soca Monarch King-Ras Kelly Dejour and Chubby & Dutty of Kollision Band. At the same point, such a saddening incident shocked people.

Even, it was revealed that the 7 steel bands will grace the region with various of the performances like EBJ Harmonics, Young Vibrations Steel Orchestra, Poinciana Rhythmz Steel Orchestra, Qualie Rhythms Steel Orchestra, Sugar City Steel Orchestra, Nevis Community Development Steel Orchestra and Gifted Youth Steel Orchestra.

A death of the member of one of these bands, Nevis Community Development Steel Orchestra, made the band community go into a dilemma and the mourning by all of them by following this is clearly stating the deepest concern for the incident.

On this, St Kitts and Nevis Carnival Committee extended the deepest condolences to the family, friends and fellow musicians of the Nevis Community Development Steel Orchestra. Also, the committee requested the community to keep the privacy and sensitivity of the family to be respected in such difficult times.
