Minister Maynard highlighted that the attendance of this meeting would be proved as a stepping stone as the nation has been facing water supply issues. He assured that the government of St Kitts and Nevis has been making sure that the people of the twin-island federation receive a 24-hour supply of water.

The minister of public infrastructure added, “I will also participate in the Ministerial High-Level Forum (HLF), the only meeting of Caribbean Water Ministers. At the conference, Ministers have an opportunity to share their experiences as well as ideas for addressing water issues affecting the region and countries in pursuit of the United Nations’ Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The participation of St Kitts and Nevis in this conference is funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB).”

At the upcoming conference, the representatives of the country will have the pleasure of meeting and interacting with the leading industry experts and professionals such as engineers, policymakers, contractors, and regional as well as international financial institutions. The meeting will also witness sharing of experience and ideals, addressing water issues affecting countries and the region around the world.

However, the HLF – High-Level Forum is a regional event, witnessing the interaction of Water Ministers of the Caribbean region. It is a joint initiative of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) and its collaborators, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), which commenced as a session within the CWWA’s Annual Conference and Exhibition in 2015.
