St Kitts and Nevis PM Terrance Drew appointed as new OECS chairman
Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has appointed Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, as the new chairperson.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) has appointed Dr Terrance Drew, Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, as the new chairperson. PM Drew will take the position during the 73rd meeting in the Federation. The meet will be organised by OECS Authority.
According to the official update by the government of St Kitts and Nevis, the newly appointed Chairman will deliver the address during the opening ceremony on June 18, 2023 (Sunday). The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank Auditorium from 5 pm.
The sub-regional grouping was formed on June 18, 1981; therefore, on Sunday, OECS will also mark its 42nd anniversary. The anniversary will be celebrated in the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis from June 13 to 19, and for this year, the theme will be ‘Vision. Integration. Sustainability.”
Prime Minister Drew will also sworn in as the Chairman of the OECS during the meeting on Sunday.
As per the reports, Dr Terrance Drew will discuss several issues, such as regional integration, health, security and renewable energy, with his colleagues.
In addition to this, a Flag Raising Ceremony will be held during the opening ceremony on June 18 at the Zuliani Roundabout in Frigate Bay at 4:00 pm. The ceremony will be attended by Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Denzil Douglas, Director General of the OECS Dr Didacus Jules and Governor of the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) Timothy Antoine.
The Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) is an international organisation that brings together several countries in the Eastern Caribbean region. Its main goal is to promote regional integration, which means that neighbouring countries with similar physical or cultural characteristics join forces to work towards common objectives.
Regional integration within the OECS involves collaboration and cooperation among member countries to facilitate various aspects of development. This helps to boost economic growth and improve opportunities for businesses and individuals within the region.
