The Ministry of National Security of St Kitts and Nevis launched the new state-of-the-art passport system on Monday, 11th November, 2024. These high-technology national passports are introduced by the authorities with a vision to enhance the safety and efficiency at borders, advancing national security.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew referred these new machine-readable passports as one of the most significant achievements marked by the island nation. As per the details, these passports consist of cutting-edge technology features which has been designed to strengthen security and streamline border management.
This initiative undertaken by the Government of St Kitts and Nevis is supported by the Ministry of National Security and Canadian Bank Note. The Prime Minister called Canadian Bank Note, their trusted partner who has been providing St Kitts and Nevis with advanced technological support.
These enhanced passports are part of the Federation’s 4th Generation Border Management System upgrade. It features advanced security elements which marks a significant advancement of St Kitts and Nevis in national security. As a part of this upgrade, the Ministry has also introduced a new passport application feature, aiming to provide a seamless travel experience as well as protecting citizens and secure national borders.
PM Terrance Drew said that these passports are the part of their modernization strategy. He also said that it will play a significant role in improving the national security. Along with that, it also shed light on the efforts undertaken by the island nation towards positioning St Kitts and Nevis as a leader in technological innovation.
The Ministry of National Security of St Kitts and Nevis said that these passports will greatly benefit their citizens. They also said that it will play a huge role in providing the citizens with more secure and efficient travel documentation. They said that they are committed to enhance the travel experiences of all their citizens and visitors, aiming to strengthen border management for the future.
These cutting-edge technological features used by the Ministry shed light on the vision of the Government of St Kitts and Nevis towards bringing digitalization to the country and addressing digital gap being faced by the citizens.
With the launch of this new passport system, the Government of St Kitts and Nevis is making continuous efforts to lead toward their agenda of becoming a sustainable island state.
