Grenada: The Chairman of the Spicemas Corporation announced the new theme for the Spicemas 2024 “People of Resilience: Weathering the Storm Together.” This theme was undertaken by the authorities with a vision to shift their focus of Spicemas 2024 towards supporting relief efforts after the devastation caused in the island nation due to the Beryl.
The authorities shared that they truly understand the significant impact the Beryl had on their brothers and sisters in Grenada, Carriaocu and Petite Martinique. Therefore, the Board of Directors of the Spicemas, being one of the statutory bodies of the tri-island state, took a decision of assisting them in the relief efforts and the rebuilding of the affected areas in the best manner they can.
For the same, they stated that the Spicemas Corporation will collaborate with the promoters in order to host a Relief Concert featuring the entertainers and diverse talent of Grenada. They further added that the funds and the revenue collected from this concert will later be donated to the Government of Grenada’s Hurricane Relief Fund for the rebuilding of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The authorities also urged everyone to participate in all the Carnival activities in order to help the government in generating the necessary funds required for the relief efforts of the Beryl. They promised to stand with the Government of Grenada in these challenging times to help those who have been left homeless.
The Spicemas Corporation also extended gratitude to all the stakeholders, including the carnival bands, event promoters, the hotel industry, entertainers, vendors, sponsors and all patrons locally and abroad for their unwavering commitment towards executing the carnival successfully this year.
The Directors noted that the Spicemas 2024 goes beyond socio-economic development, they asserted that it plays a huge role in fostering the cultural expressions of the rich heritage, community spirit, togetherness, entertainment and business.
“We encourage everyone to participate and make Spicemas 2024 one that focuses on resilience, togetherness and hope so that Grenada will rise again,” stated Kirt Ross, the Chairman of Spicemas Corporation.
