Shawn Richards pledges to implement GET Relief Plan within 30 days of taking office

St Kitts and Nevis: Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM)- Shawn Richards announced that a government of PAM/CCM would institute St Kitts and Nevis’ Gasoline, Energy and Telecommunications Relief Plan (GET) within 30 days of taking office.

St Kitts and Nevis: Leader of the People’s Action Movement (PAM)- Shawn Richards announced that a government of PAM/CCM would institute St Kitts and Nevis’ Gasoline, Energy and Telecommunications Relief Plan (GET) within 30 days of taking office.

The plan sets out a bold vision as well as immediate actions to help individuals, families, as well as businesses GET relief through a PAM/CCM government’s aggressive plan to freeze gas prices and reduce energy and telecommunications costs so as to enhance the standard of living of the citizens of this Federation.

Along with this, a PAM and CCM administration will freeze Gasoline prices at $14.00 EC per imperial gallon. That’s a rollback of $4.00 from its current price of $18.00.

PAM and CCM GET Relief plan will ensure that low-income households that qualify are issued a one-time government grant, wiping out the current amount they owe to SKELEC and NEVLEC. In addition, these households will receive an ongoing stimulus payment of $100 per month toward their electricity bill.

A PAM and CCM government will collaborate within the region to address issues in the area of telecommunications.

Leader of the People’s Action Movement asserted, “We have commenced discussion with telecommunications regulators within the region, and we are all aligned on the urgent need to address four key areas:

1. Universal Service.

2. Lower Cell Phone Rates.

3. Elimination of Regional Roaming.

4. Local Number Portability.

The Leader of PAM– Shawn Richards, and the Leader of CCM-Mark Brantley launched a joint manifesto in which they promised to provide more than 5,000 jobs and plans to make St Kitts and Nevis a “model nation of hope and opportunities” in the region. They also promised to create a new “Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation”, which will focus on tackling unemployment and expanding the economy.
