Saint Lucia: Prime Minister of Saint Lucia – Philip J Pierre, met with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on youth Jayathma Wichramanayake. Both dignitaries has conversation about the upliftment of the youth.
The interactive session between UN’s Envoy and Prime Minister Pierre witnessed discussions about how the young people of the nation can be utilized by providing training and mentorship.
Prime Minister Pierre took social media and shared some glimpse of this meeting. He mentioned, “Today I attended a bilateral meeting with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth Ms. Jayathma Wickramanayake.”
Furthermore, he highlighted that they both explored areas for collaboration in the Youth Economy which will provide training, mentorship and funding for the development of the talent and skills of our young people into viable businesses.
“I look forward to this partnership as we nurture global citizens,” he stated while expressing gratitude towards the UN’s Envoy Wichramanayake.
Currently, Prime Minister Philip J Pierre is in attendance at the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly as President Joseph Biden makes his contribution to the Assembly.
Prime Minister Pierre will make his contribution to the Debate on Friday, 23rd September, at a time to be announced.
PM Pierre will also deliver his first in-person address to the Assembly as the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia on Friday, and is expected to be the seventeenth (17th) speaker during the morning session.
As per the schedule, the Prime Minister will also attend a number of bilateral and high-level meetings during his time in New York City to advance Saint Lucia’s development agenda in areas such as climate change, food security, and the youth economy.
The UNGA 77 runs from September 20 to 26, and PM will return to his land on September 28. Dr Ernest Hilaire will act as Prime Minister until then.
