Castries, Saint Lucia: The opportunities have knocked the doors of Saint Lucians as Integrating Cuba, the Caribbean, along with the European Union through Culture and Creativity, implemented by UNESCO as well as funded by the European Union, invited you to participate in the online event Innovative Funding for TV and Radio Cultural Content, to be held on Thursday, 18 May 2023, via Zoom.
The session will be held under the programme Transcultural and will open the doors to several opportunities. As per the official update, in a world where media consumption has never been higher, the availability and global reach of content from around the world are crucial for diverse cultural expressions to thrive.
In the Caribbean, where the digital divide still poses a major challenge to equitable participation in this context, traditional media play a key role in providing access to cultural content, as well as in disseminating and ensuring the diversity of those contents.
This online event is addressed to young creators, specialists, culture professionals, and producers of cultural content for television and radio and aims to provide a space for collective reflection and sharing of innovative approaches, policies, models, strategies, tools and platforms to fund media content. It will focus on four themes:
– Funding strategies for broadcasted cultural and creative content.
– Content creation for television and radio: storytelling and audience building.
– Intellectual property rights and regimes for the protection of cultural and creative television and radio content.
– Indigenous languages, cultural diversity and content diversity.
The event will have simultaneous interpretation in three languages (English, French and Spanish).
The authorities have asked the general public to register here: https://unesco-org.zoom.us/…/tZUqfu2orDwsEtwMGNQxlXivVY.
