Saint Lucia: Deputy PM Ernest Hilaire, other leaders attends National Ecumenical Service

Castries, Saint Lucia: The National Ecumenical Service in observation of Saint Lucia’s 44th Independence Anniversary was held on February 17, 2023 (Friday) from 9:30 am to 11:45 am at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception.
The Service was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Ernest Hilaire. Minister of Tourism and Investment Hilaire outlined that he attended and participated in the National Ecumenical Service in observation of Saint Lucia’s 44th Independence Anniversary.
The mass was held at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception Church in the city center. “In all we do we must give the most-high praises for giving us the breath of life to see another day and another year,” the post by the minister further read.
According to the government of Saint Lucia, has announced that the Ecclesiastical Affairs will be monitored by the Equity, Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry of the nation. The Ministry has stated that the regular day of worship of the religious communities should be focused on the selected theme and congregants were encouraged to dress in national flag’s colours.
Along with the Deputy Prime Minister, the event was attended by most of the leaders of the nation including Prime Minister Philip J Pierre, Acting Governor-General Errol Charles, along with some other members of Parliament and other specially invited guests.
Along with these, all Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) affiliated with the Equity Ministry and staff of the Public Service are invited to attend the Service.
The day will be marked under the theme ‘Douvan Ansanm – One People Shaping Our Destiny’ in the year 2023.
