Saint Lucia: Another case of shooting makes authorities scramble for answers

The shooting incident occurred at Conway, Castries, Saint Lucia, on Thursday, 19th October 2023. Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department in Castries investigated the matter and apprehended the suspect.
On arriving at the scene, they spotted a man with what seemed to be blood oozing down from his abdomen. The officials interrogated the victim, who revealed his identity as Carlton Biscette of La Clery, Castries. Carlton was conscious at that moment but his body was going into shock due to the blood loss.
Carlton Biscette informed the officers that an individual known to him shot him in his torso. The Saint Lucia Fire Service’s Emergency Medical Technicians also investigated this case and interrogated the victim.
Afterwards, he was provided the medical attention and was transported via an ambulance to the nearest hospital. As a result, he started feeling better and doctors said that his condition was stable.
On Friday, 20th October 2023, multiple units of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force and the Central Division and Dennery conducted a collaborative operation. The purpose behind this joint operation was to capture known criminals from Dennery Village, execute search warrants and arrest any suspects in relation to the case at hand.
Increasing incidents of gun violence have become a major cause of concern for the Dennery Village. Due to this, there was an urgent need to take some stringent action to combat the surge in crimes.
On implementing the arrest warrant on Brendan Thomas, who resides in Conway, Castries. On reaching his house, law enforcement found 30 foiled wraps of Cannabis Resin, small quantities of green plant material which is suspected to be marijuana, a small amount of crack cocaine and a substantial sum of money amounting to $2055.55.
Brendan Thomas was also arrested under the charge of attacking Carlton Biscette.
Not just this, Brendon Thomas was later charged with multiple offences and was taken to court for the same. He did manage to get bail instead of being incarcerated.
To get his bail approved in this particular case, Thomas had to pay the following amounts in correspondence with his crimes:
- For the possession of Cannabis Resin, he had to pay seven hundred dollars ($700.00)
- The court charged him seven hundred dollars for the possession of Crack Cocaine ($700.00)
- For the intent to supply cannabis resin, he was assigned one thousand dollars ($1,000.00)
- He paid $1,000 for intent to supply crack cocaine
- He was asked to pay a fine of $10,000 for the offence of attempting murder.
