Rihanna Williams robbed by motorcycle bandits in Georgetown, Guyana

Georgetown, Guyana: Rihanna Williams, resident of Karisparu Region 8, was robbed of valuables by motorcycle bandits on Friday in Sophia, Georgetown.

As per the information shared by the victim, she was heading to the place where she was staying. Meanwhile, she stopped at a supermarket to purchase a few items.

She stated that she was walking towards the pharmacy to purchase some medications when two men on a motorcycle pulled up behind her and grabbed her handbag before cutting it and making good their escape.

She revealed that her bag contained various valuable things, which included,

  • Bank card
  • Psychiatry clinic appointment card
  • Documents for Singers
  • A cash sum of 230,000 GYD
  • A cellphone
  • Samsung A32
  • Charger
  • Other fine accessories.

While sharing the details, she noted, “The cash was to be used to pay my passage to go Karisparu and also to pay for my two brothers’ passage to come to the city with me to start school.”

She added that she knows that she won’t get her phone and money back. However, she requested the residents of the community to contact her if anyone finds her documents thrown at the road corner or in the trash.

Rihanna Williams said, “Contact me via messenger or drop it at the Chinese supermarket at Red Road Corner; she has my contact details. And the person who found it will be rewarded.”

Moreover, the authorities have promised to investigate into the matter thoroughly to get the culprit behind the bars.

Various residents of the community took to their social media accounts and expressed their views on the matter. One person with a Facebook account, Vaneza Simboo, commented, “So sad, my God, if you have a little bright light or little music in your vehicle, the police are running you down for that who they should be running behind. They are not doing people working so hard to for a living.”

“Omg, these men don’t want to work. Just looking to rob people who are trying to do something,” wrote Philomena Lewis.

Another person with a Facebook handle commented the following: “God will deal with them, my dear sister, praying for you.”
