Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit meets principals of CCECC, discusses infrastructural development
Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Dominica met the principals of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in Beijing as he is in China. The Prime Minister highlighted that CCECC is the firm which has a significant role in the infrastructural development of Dominica.

Roseau, Dominica: Roosevelt Skerrit, the Prime Minister of Dominica met the principals of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) in Beijing as he is in China. The Prime Minister highlighted that CCECC is the firm which has a significant role in the infrastructural development of Dominica.
China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation has made a great deal of contribution by extending a helping hand in the infrastructural projects in Dominica. During the Prime Minister’s visit, the PM and principals had discussions for China-Dominica collaboration on other developmental initiatives for the advancement of Dominica’s economy.
The Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit through his social media handle as well casted light on the previous partnerships with CCECC which were aimed at the infrastructural development of the country, Dominica. The projects included;
- Windsor Park Sports Stadium
- Bellevue Chopin Housing Development
- Mahaut Primary School
- Health and Wellness Centers
Not only this, the six new schools are also on the way to be constructed in the country with the aid of funds provided by the People’s Republic of China. From these schools, Goodwill Secondary School is already completed and the Thibaud Primary School has just started its construction. The information of other schools has not been disclosed yet.
Probing ahead, The Prime Minister of Dominica even met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing on Monday. During the meeting, they had discussions about the strong relationships between two countries (Dominica-China).
“We pledged commitment to deepening the friendship between our two countries through vigorous exchanges and further cooperations in various fields.” quoted the Prime Minister in one of his Social Media posts while sharing the insight to his meeting with the President of China.
Not only did PM Roosevelt Skerrit had a meeting with the President but also met Premier Li Qiang and the Chairman of the National People’s Congress Standing Committee, Zhao Leji.
The Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit in one of his interviews with China Xinhua News mentioned China as a true friend of Dominica and referred to it as an all-weather friend. Such a mention by the Prime Minister is the true epitome of stronger connections of Dominica-China relations.
He highlighted various of the initiatives through which China has assisted Dominica. He mentioned the Belt and Road initiative which opened up several of the opportunities in providing support, financially or technically to many of the countries. The Prime Minister added that the aid being provided by China is helping in building economic independence and advancing social development of the country.
This event has made possible the expansion of the cooperation in the agriculture sector which further is adding up in fostering food security. The significant mark of the contribution by China became so effective with its contribution in the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) which directs towards the economic boost of the country.
Not only the agricultural expansion, however, the health sector has also witnessed significant growth with the introduction of Dominica-China Friendship Hospital and advancements made to the Cardiology department of the country.
Moreover, the exchange of education as well has given great to the economy of the country. As on this, the Prime Minister has added that many of the young people of Dominica are attaining degrees from the Universities in China and giving their part to the fields like agriculture, architecture, international relations studies and others.
The Prime Minister also laid an emphasis on the relations of Dominica with the countries within CELAC (The community of Latin American and Caribbean States). And, the stance by the PM of looking forward to strengthening and deepening the bilateral relation between Dominica and China presented an idea of working collaboratively towards addressing global issues of the world.
