PM Terrance Drew unveils major healthcare improvements in St Kitts and Nevis

St Kitts and Nevis: Dr Terrance Drew, the Prime Minister and Health Minister of St Kitts and Nevis reveals the insights to make significant strides in delivering improved healthcare to the people of St Kitts and Nevis.
The Prime Minister outlined the upgrades made to the JNF(Joseph N. France) Hospital in history. He listed the improvisations and included that the hospital for the first time got an Endocrinologist who is the doctor of diabetes and hormone.
Not only this, others like a neurologist who is brain and nerve doctor, four internists and three anesthesiologists got available to the public at JNF Hospital, St Kitts and Nevis. Further, he added that there are two Pediatricians, three surgeons, four gynaecologists and seven radiographers. Psychologists reinstated to strengthen mental health care.
Considerably, the hospital even has a Kidney Transplant Program which would signal towards the transition to highly sophisticated and modern medical care. The Prime Minister highlighted that the improvements being done in the hospital also include HR personnel as part of the staff.
In terms of equipment installed at the hospital, there are new Anaesthesiology machines, fluoroscopy machines, ultrasound machines, CT Scan machines, dialysis machines and the electroencephalogram (EEG) machine used to test the brain.
Providing more details on it, the Prime Minister added that the most upgrades which took place at the same time at JNF Hospital since its construction are:
- Refurbishment of the morgue
- Repair of the hospital roof to end years of leaking
- Refurbishment of the hospital foyer
- The addition of ACs on the wards for the very first time
- Purchase of heavy duty washing machines to enhance the availability of linens.
He even highlighted that this is not the limit, many more are still coming to accreditation. Public on this also expressed gratitude towards the authorities.
