Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit met Minister for Tourism of Saudi Arabia – Ahmed Aqeel AlKhateeb during the minister’s visit to the Commonwealth of Dominica. The Minister of Tourism reached Dominica on February 21, Monday and his meeting with the Prime Minister were scheduled on February 23, Wednesday, at the Kempinski Hotel.

The meeting was conducted to strengthen the bilateral partnership between both nations. Discussion on various concerning topics was held by both the counterparts. Expectedly, this meeting will enhance the cooperation between Dominica and Saudi Arabia.

While emphasising the meeting for the bilateral relations between the two countries, PM Skerrit expressed Dominica’s admiration for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and gave his commitment to deepening ties between both countries.

Prime Minister further expressed gratitude and said that Dominica has “looked forward to greater collaboration between the two countries.”

The prime minister briefed the public and notified them about the meeting between Dominican leaders, the Saudi Arabia Minister of Tourism, and his delegation. The tweet by the PM read, “Prime Minister, Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit welcomed the Minister for Tourism from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, H.E. Ahmed Aqeel AlKhateeb, who arrived here on an official visit on Monday, February 21.”

It further informed that the delegation, along with Alkhateeb, met Dominica’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations, Dr Kenneth Darroux.

PM expressed that both nations have been aiming to strengthen cooperation and deepen bilateral ties.

“H.E Alkhateeb and his delegation were met at the Douglas Charles Airport by Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations, Hon. Dr Kenneth Darroux. The Saudi official’s visit aimed to strengthen cooperation and deepen bilateral ties with Dominica,” said Prime Minister Skerrit.

Reportedly, both nations have been looking forward to enhancing the tourism sector for the economy of any country and promised to strengthen the industry by inviting various programmes between the countries.

The relationship between Dominica and the Middle East has been longstanding. To enhance and strengthen this partnership, Dominica, in January 2020, opened its first embassy in Abu Dhabi; in February 2020, both nations signed a visa-waiver agreement.
