PM Philip Pierre focuses on climate financing for SIDS during his visit to SVG
The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Philip Pierre emphasized the urgent need for increased climate financing for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) during his tour to St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Castries, Saint Lucia: The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia Philip Pierre emphasized the urgent need for increased climate financing for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) during his tour to St Vincent and the Grenadines.
Recently, the Prime Minister made his visit to the island nation in order to assess the impact of Hurricane Beryl. This visit was followed by a similar trip to Grenada, in the last week where the delegates observed and assessed the devastating effects caused by the Beryl in Carriacou.
During his visit to St Vincent, the leader of the nation noted that the rising frequency and intensity of climate disasters necessitate greater financial support in order to address the substantial damage to infrastructure and economies of Small Island Developing States. The Prime Minister also noted that the situation in the island nation also reinforces the crucial need for global solidarity and proactive measures in order to deal with uncertain situations.
The Prime Minister also shed light on the significance of preparedness for future hurricanes. For the same, he requested all the Saint Lucians to remain vigilant and be ready to face all such challenges.
Moreover, the Prime Minister extended heartfelt sympathy and support to the residents and Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines. He shared that he witnessed the union island where most of the houses were either damaged or destroyed. The Prime Minister noted that the hurricane brought devastating winds and torrential rainfall which led to severe disruption and displacement of thousands of residents, who are currently residing in temporary shelters.
PM Pierre asked everyone in Saint Lucia to support the recovery efforts in Grenada and St Vincent. He shared that the financial contribution can be made at the Bank of Saint Lucia in account number, 901462669.
The Prime Minister stated that he stands in solidarity with his neighbouring nations and will make every possible effort to help them in their challenging times.
