Martinique: Several people in Martinique came on the streets on Sunday to demonstrate their demand to authorities to allow a traditional carnival.
Hundreds of people came for this demonstration in Martinique. The astonishing about this parade was their music display and dance moves on the streets.
It lured everybody’s attention, especially the media and other locals. The crowd, followed by music, walked through the streets of the Martinique capital, Fort de France. They held at the official headquarters of the Prefect for a while.
Parade’s purpose
In this COVID-19 era, celebration of every occasion is at the back seat. Incredible cultures are not celebrated due to this lethal coronavirus. People want to celebrate their days and want to live in the moment but can’t. As we all know, Martinique has recorded fewer reports of COVID-19; hence they are demanding to celebrate their traditional fair.
A demanding parade activist said, “carnival is too important to Martinique culture for the authorities to scrap it.” According to the online publication, many who took participated in the display wore balaclavas.
Besides this, few of that parade wore COVID-19 masks and followed some regulations.
Hermina Mendez wrote, “Hear the hypocrites, and I am certain if they were to allow carnival in Lucia in all the sufferation a lot of yall would find the money where it is to go pay for yall costumes, lass been physic pour mal tête moun. A Lil restriction on alcohol looks how yall bawling, fait men chié, focus on yall and let the ppl be. I said what I said doh come for me, scroll past my comment like yall never saw it.”
Another resident commented, “Is the government telling you how to boost up, Immune system? If not, why not?”
On the other hand, a Facebook user wrote, ” It is about Martinique, yet St. Lucians who hate themselves so much would still involve Lucians in this, every country has ignorant people in their mist accept this fact and stop the self-hate.”
