Olympic double medallist Julien Alfred nominated for Female Track Athlete of Year 2024

Saint Lucia’s star athlete, Julien Alfred has once again been nominated for the prestigious title of Female Track Athlete of the Year 2024. The influencers and fans from Saint Lucia have been voting for their first ever Olympic Gold medallist in large numbers and are hoping for the victory of their golden girl, Julien Alfred.

As per the details, World Athletics has announced the finalists of this year’s Athlete of the Year awards. 11 Olympic champions have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards. The winner of these awards will be declared on the basis of public voting which will be held between 4 and 10 November, 2024.

The overall winner of each category will be revealed at a ceremony which is a part of the World Athletics Awards 2024. The ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, 1^st December in Monaco. The list of finalists includes athletes from the world of track, field, and road.

Julien Alfred has been nominated alongside Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone of the USA in the same category. Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone is the winner of gold medal in the Women’s 400-meter hurdles race at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She had made headlines and garnered huge attention by breaking her own world record and winning the gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024.

On the other hand, Saint Lucian champion Julien Alfred has been the Olympic 100m champion and 200m silver medallist. She also won the 60m world indoor title in Glasgow in March and was the first athlete from her country to win an Olympic medal of any colour, along with her gold in the 100m at Paris 2024.

Therefore, the tourism authority and Government of Saint Lucia have urged the citizens and the public to cast their vote for their star Olympian, Julien Alfred.

The authorities of Saint Lucia shed light on the importance of each vote. They also urged the citizens to vote in favour of Alfred in order to help her in winning the prestigious title. They mentioned that it is the time for the supporters of Julien Alfred to showcase their love and recognize her achievements by voting for their favourite.

Also, recently, Alfred was awarded the Best Athlete of the Paris 2024 Award at the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Awards 2024. These continuous remarkable recognitions add yet another accolade to her collection of achievements.
