Officials of Trinidad & Tobago to conduct exercise to combat crime rates

The Central Division officers of Trinidad and Tobago conducted an anti-crime exercise, apprehended 21-year-old and seized 2.1 kg of marijuana.

The Central Division officers of Trinidad and Tobago conducted an anti-crime exercise, apprehended 21-year-old and seized 2.1 kg of marijuana.

The anti-crime exercise was conducted between 3 pm and 6 pm on 30th November 2023. The exercise was conducted by the Central Division Task Force officers, Area South and the Caroni K9 Unit. These authorities paid special attention to drug blocks in the Couva and Freeport areas.

Subsequently, the officials moved towards a Southern Main Road, Caroni. On reaching there, a search warrant was executed at the offender’s home.

While searching the offender’s bedroom, the authorities found four rectangular objects. Notably, these objects were wrapped in red and brown plastic. It was found by the authorities that each bag contained marijuana.

The 21-year-old was apprehended in connection with the things found by the police officers.

The narcotics which were discovered by the authorities were weighed. On weighing, it was found to be equal to 2.1 kg with an estimated value of $65,000.

A quantity of narcotics was seized by the officers and they conveyed to the Couva Police Station.

Moreover, PC Rampersad is continuing the investigations and looking into the matter. This exercise was coordinated by Snr. Superintendent Simon, Superintendent Montrichard, Superintendent.Gyan, Asp Ablacksingh and Inspector. Stewart. The matter was supervised by Sgt. Persad.

Last time, when the officers conducted an anti-crime exercise, they apprehended three people for larceny and robbery offences.

The officials of Four Roads Police Station, along with the Western Division Task Force, conducted an exercise on Saturday, 25th November 2023.

They apprehended a 24-year-old man in connection with the two motor vehicles, a white Nissan B14 and a blue Nissan B12, they found in a yard.

Afterwards, the Police officers reported a case of robbery in the Port of Spain district, Beetham Gardens. A female victim reported to the police that she was standing along the street when a man with a knife approached her and robbed her.

The man grabbed her cellular phone and ran away.

Furthermore, in another incident, a male suspect was apprehended by the officials of the Central Police Station. He was arrested for snatching a gold chain.

The suspect was trying to run away from there, but Inter-Agency Task Force officers, who were on patrol in that area, caught him.

Trinidad and Tobago’s citizens have expressed their gratitude to the officers for their tireless efforts in making the nation peaceful.
