NGBs receive Trinidad and Tobago $1.9M in grant funding

Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago: Minister of Sport and Community Development, Shamfa Cudjoe, distributed one million, nine hundred and eighty-one thousand, and one hundred and eighty-nine dollars and eighty-three cents ($1,981,189.83) to six (6) National Governing Bodies, on April 6th 2023.

As per the update about the ministry, the funding, which was disbursed through The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago (SporTT), is to assist with several administrative and competition-related expenses incurred over the past few months.

During her brief remarks, Minister Cudjoe congratulated the National Governing Bodies for their outstanding performance and achievements in their respective disciplines. Additionally, in commemoration of International Day of Sport for Development and Peace 2023, Minister Cudjoe encouraged all NGBs to extend their reach and make their programmes and initiatives accessible to not only women and girls but to schools and rural communities across Trinidad and Tobago in keeping with this year’s theme “Scoring for People and the Planet”.

Accordingly, on hand to receive funding at today’s ceremony were representatives from the following National Governing Bodies:

Trinidad and Tobago Cycling Federation
Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board
Trinidad and Tobago Sailing Association
Trinidad and Tobago Amateur Boxing Association
Trinidad and Tobago Netball Association
Trinidad and Tobago Football Association

The ministry has also announced that the NGBs expressed their appreciation and thanks to the Sport and Community Development Ministry and the Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago for their continued support in ensuring their participation and success in local and international tournaments.

The event was attended by Justin Latapy-George, Head of Sport Development at The Sports Company of Trinidad and Tobago.
